Good afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,
We have a few important updates:
If you are like me, the turn of the calendar and the turn of the weather could not have happened at a better time. January and February are always hard months with cold temps and long dark days. As we head into the spring and the remainder of this school year, I encourage all of us to make a commitment to our mental and physical health. One way to improve both is by walking. Did you know that the Far Eastside now has their own 11.4 mile walking trail, the Pennsy Trail? You can find more information linked here.
Another thing we do in the spring in Indiana is testing. State testing has been in progress for many of our students already these past couple of months. Next week, all of our 3rd grade IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL students will be taking the IREAD-3 assessment. Information will be forthcoming from your home school through newsletters and individual teachers. We recognize that any of these state tests that we administer this year will not accurately reflect our student’s progress. We do encourage all students to participate so that we can have additional data to best meet their needs in the future.
We are currently working on a comprehensive summer school program for current Warren K-12 students. Details for registering for our summer school program will be shared in the near future through each school.
Just a reminder that our food distributions for our VIRTUAL and HYBRID students are on Tuesdays from 8:00 - 9:30 AM and 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Moorhead Community Resource Center. If you have needs beyond what is being offered, you can call our outreach hotline at 317-608-0545 or email at MSDWarrenOutreach@warren.k12.in.us with your request.
Finally, if you or you know someone who is interested in working with our INCREDIBLE Warren team, please take a look at our opportunities on our district website by clicking on Current Openings under the Human Resources tab.
Have a great rest of your week and I am sincerely grateful for your continued investment in our Warren students and schools.
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
