March 1 Superintendent Update Graphic

March 1, 2023

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

We have several important announcements for the week of March 1st.

Quickly, I would like to remind our families and caregivers of some upcoming events that have been previously shared:

Kindergarten Kick-Off Registration for the 2023-2024 school year will be held on Monday, March 20th, from 6:00-8:00 at each of our 9 Warren elementary schools.

MSD Warren Township will be hosting its annual Teacher Recruitment Fair on Tuesday, March 7th. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, please visit our website for more information.

MSD Warren Township, in collaboration with community partners, will host its second school safety and security community forum on Monday, March 13th. The forum will be held at Creston Intermediate Middle School from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.

A couple of new announcements:

Our next 21st Century Scholars Event will be held on Wednesday, March 8th, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Creston Intermediate and Middle School. Please enter through door 1 and enter the LGI room on the left. All Warren Township Families of 7th and 8th graders will be able to apply using school computers or by completing paper applications. Please bring your child’s social security number. School counselors will be there to help with any questions.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

If you are not able to make this event but would like to register your child, please visit the website:

learnmoreindiana.org/scholars/enroll/ or by texting the word “college” to 317-597-8068.

MSD Warren Township now utilizes an online registration process through ParentVue for families and caregivers. This process provides several benefits to our families and to our District. For families, this provides an easier way to provide updated residency and contact information, updated emergency contact and medical information, and access to student information such as attendance and grades.

Registration is open now for those families who have not yet accessed the online registration for the 2022-2023 school year, and it is available for families to get a jump start on the 2023-2024 school year. Please note that you must select the appropriate school year before registering.

Please take the opportunity to register your students for the 2023-2024 school year at your earliest convenience. Use your ParentVUE username and password to register current students and to add any new students for the 2023-2024 school year.

If you have a ParentVUE account and cannot remember your login information or need to create a new account, please contact your child’s school before starting the registration process.

Thank you for your continued support and investment in Warren students, staff, and schools.

Together…#WarrenWill grow our students.

On March 2, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:000 pm, CAFE (Community Alliance of the Far Eastside) will host the launch of the Far Eastside Health Equity Zone! The Eskenazi Leadership team and other project contributors, including James Taylor from MSD Warren Township, will be present and would like to hear directly from the community and residents about the needs and desires related to health on the Far Eastside. The notable Karen Vaughn will serve as the moderator for the evening, with dinner and childcare provided! CAFE is located at 8902 East 38th Street.

The Health Equity Zone Initiative aims to work together to increase the life expectancy for neighborhood residents by addressing systematic barriers to health in specific neighborhoods. Research shows that up to 80% of health outcomes stem from factors in our homes, schools, jobs, and communities. Neighborhood organizations and healthcare institutions can work in partnership to address a comprehensive set of social determinants of health factors listed below.

Food as Medicine: Eating healthy and nutritious food

Mental Wellness: Fostering resilience and a healthy mindset

Healthy Lifestyles: Creating the conditions for healthy lifestyles

Transportation and Connectivity: Connecting to health education and employment

Housing: Supporting quality, affordable and safe housing

Community Connectedness: Building social capital and connection

Safety: Living free of violence, including intimate partner violence and child abuse

Economic Opportunities: Creating pathways to economic self-sufficiency
