Good evening, this is Rich Shepler, principal of Warren Central High School.   It was great to see so many students last Tuesday for course material distribution.  We miss having students in the building each day and look forward to seeing all of you back in person as soon as possible.  That being said, I want to continue to offer our support while all high school students work virtually.   It is more important than ever to reach out to teachers, counselors, academic coaches, and administrators when you experience difficulty academically or with social-emotional concerns.   Our goal is to walk with you every step of the way to achieving your high school diploma.  We are asking for your best effort and dedication and we will commit to assisting you when things are challenging.

One way to access both academic and social-emotional support is to attend weekly learning hub opportunities.  Learning hubs are held in person and virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Students will be invited to attend specific learning hubs by teachers and cohort teams.  If a student needs additional support please contact our staff and we will gladly arrange it for you.

In addition to Learning Hubs, Tutoring sessions continue to be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 pm to 4:45 pm in our West Cafeteria.  As a reminder, food and transportation home will be provided, if needed.

For those families who may have missed material distribution, we will have another opportunity for you on Wednesday, January 20th, from 5 - 7 pm.  Material distribution is for specific Semester II courses.  Your child should have received communication from their teacher if they have materials that need to be picked up.  When arriving for your materials, please park in lot 7 on the West end of our football field and enter through Door 14 near the natatorium.   As a reminder, masks are required to enter our building, and we ask that everyone practice social distancing from other students and families while in the building.

On Tuesday, January 26th, select seniors will take the ASVAB test to fulfill Box 3 of the pathway completion process.  Seniors, please be sure to check your emails for testing times and locations.  Transportation will be provided to those that need it.

As noted in the Superintendent’s update, in preparedness for potential inclement weather this winter, an inclement weather delay, and closing FAQ has been created to address this during the IN-PERSON, VIRTUAL, and HYBRID window. The FAQ can be found on our district website by clicking District Information under the Explore Tab.

As a reminder, Monday, January 18th, MSD of Warren Township will be closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day.  Tomorrow,  I encourage you to pause and consider the why behind the long weekend.  Reflect on the work and legacy of Dr. King and be mindful of how we can channel his passion and determination to continue to make the progress that is undeniably necessary in society right now.

Thank you and have a great evening.
