It is officially October, which means fall break is upon us. Fall break officially means that we are a quarter of the way through this school year, as well as the end of most fall sports and the transition into winter sports and activities. The weather becomes colder, and the days become shorter.

As a student, fall break may signify a time for you to look at your grades and determine what kind of academic support you will need in order to finish the semester strong. For seniors, this may also be an ideal time to apply to college for early admission, as the deadline is Nov. 1.

All in all, fall break is also a time to relax. You have two weeks off from school and no requirements for school during this time. Spend your time outdoors while the weather is still somewhat warm, and enjoy the orange and red trees as the leaves begin to fall. Visit an orchard, buy a pumpkin, be adventurous but most of all have fun.

In this issue of the Owl, I am proud to say that we have many well-written stories including a staff editorial on school shootings, a letter from Mr. Salemi on the importance of registering to vote and a review of “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice,” just to name a few, as well as coverage of all fall sports teams.

As always, visit our news website to read any stories we did not have space to print in this issue, including exciting first-time work from some of the students taking Introduction to Journalism, the class most students take before joining the Owl staff. Many of them will become more and more involved as the year goes on.

I hope you enjoy our issue and enjoy your fall break.
