The back of number 13 soccer player

The Warren Central girl's soccer season is coming to an end. The Lady Warriors were not off to the strongest start this season; however, they are hoping to finish this season off by bringing Warren Central dubs into the postseason.

They started last year going back-to-back between wins and losses, but they managed to pull themselves together and ended the season with a positive attitude.

“I feel as if we can work more on working together and communicating as a team,” junior Kamea McClam said.

According to these Warren Central athletes, soccer is a difficult sport that involves a lot of footwork and running. It is similar to football and basketball, but in soccer, they can’t use their hands, which makes it more challenging for them.

Even though these athletes haven’t been off to the best start in their season, according to them all that matters is that they enjoy the sport and they’re doing something that they love. Still, this year's team is hoping that they pull it together to progress in sectionals.

“Sectionals are a chance to show how much we have improved as a team since summer training,” head coach Ethan Maurer said. “It’s a brand new season, and we want to show everyone what we are capable of.”

Many newcomers came into this sport with a positive attitude and a lot of love. One of those players, freshman varsity player Olivia McClam, had been conditioning all summer, getting in shape to have the best season possible.

“We have been practicing being on the defensive, and overall we have a great team,”  McClam said. “I love my coaches and teammates. It's been a great experience so far.”

They fought long and hard all season going against multiple different teams. With going against all these different high school soccer teams, the Lady Warriors feel as if they've been going head to head trying to play as the best versions of themselves.

`Soccer is a sport that consists of 11 players on the field with some being in the upper field and some being in the back. The ones on the upper field are ready to defend the opposite team from going back to the goalie, but if they steal the ball from the other team then they switch to the offenders while the opposing team defends them. The players in the back of the field can only go so far up the field. They are in the back ready to defend any players that just happen to get past the players in the upper field.

Soccer, to some, is a very interesting sport to watch, but not everyone calls it soccer. Some of the other countries call it futbol considering not every other country has actual NFL football like the United States.

The Warren Central girl's soccer team had a positive attitude going into this season, and they are striving to end their season with excellent scores.
