Noah Hess is striving for greatness as a student and as an athlete, making sure to stay on top of his studies but also making time for bowling and golf. Although he is only a sophomore, he Is a great addition to their team.
When the time comes for the golf meets, Hess gets focused and tries to maintain his composure.
“I prepare for tough matches by trying to maintain a positive mindset and stay relaxed going into it because, generally, I produce a better score in both bowling and golf when I am relaxed and just having fun,” Hess said.
Hess’ teammates have nothing but good things to say about him and how good of a player and teammate he is and he helps some of the players with their techniques.
“He helps with my golf etiquette, which is sometimes horrible, and just having a teammate who can hit the ball as well and consistently as him which is helpful,” freshman Jeremiah Wright-Bibbs said.
Coach Stephen Crumlin has high hopes for how far Hess will go in golf. Crumlin recognizes Hess is a good teammate who helps others and has good sportsmanship.
“Noah works very hard and has an abundance of talent,” Crumlin said. “I think once he figures out how to score, he will be one of the best in the county. He is so valuable to this team in that he is a great example of good attitude, works very hard, and is a good teammate.”
While Hess is only a sophomore, he has a huge influence on the freshmen who have joined golf. Coaches and co-captain Connor Lee have noticed his efforts and enthusiasm to put the team's needs ahead of his own.
“His influence on the freshmen is great, his help to coach them up and help them get comfortable with the clubs and being new to golf in general,” Lee said
Hess is also second in his class and strives to maintain good grades throughout the school year. He attributes that success, in part, to his golf experience.
“It has taught me to manage my classes in a way that allows me to keep my grades up and lets me participate in golf,” he said.
