July 29 Update Graphic

July 29, 2020

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff

We are a little over 1 week away from our first day of 2020-2021 school year, which is Thursday, August 6th.  Many of our school and district staff are in our buildings getting ready for students to return. Our teachers officially return on Monday, August 3rd.

As we continue to schedule for our IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL students , create bus routes for our IN-PERSON and our ALTERNATING Day students, and ensure our students, staff, and families have what they need to start the year safely, I want to provide some important updates.

ParentVue is our new Parent Portal for communicating information with our parents. ParentVue activation letters were mailed to families this week. For our families without an address on file, they will need to complete the Google Form located on the Parent Portal page under the Parents tab. Once activated, parents will be able to access bus information, teacher information, and other student information in their ParentVue account.

For those students who will be riding a bus to and from school, you can expect to receive a personal phone call from your child’s bus driver prior to the first day of school. Each driver will make two attempts in contacting their families. With the addition of our new ParentVue, we will no longer be mailing bus stop information. If you do not receive a call or have questions about transportation, please call 317-532-2820.

For families who are participating in the VIRTUAL only model, you can expect to receive additional information over the next few days. If you have specific questions about the VIRTUAL experience, you can either contact your child’s home school or you can contact our Office of Curriculum and Assessment / Student Programming at 317-869-4349.

As part of our strategic planning process last school year, one of the consistent themes we heard from our Warren families and employees was the need for improved communication. As part of our response, each month, the district will share electronic newsletters with timely information. The July newsletter is attached to this message here and will be available in English and Spanish on our website under the Newsroom tab.

I believe feedback is a gift and helps us improve. As we continue to navigate through this uncharted territory, I welcome your feedback to help us make the Warren experience exceptional for our students, families, and staff.

Thank you for your continued support and investment in Warren students and schools.

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township.
