David Bell Named 2019 Marion County Athlete of the Year!

Congratulations to David Bell of Warren Central for being named the 2019 Marion County Athlete of the year!  The Marion County Athletic Association’s City and County Athlete of the Year award, a recognition that dates to 1950 for males and 1979 for females, is geared toward athletic achievement but also to those who exhibit impressive credentials in academic and personal areas.  David Bell is only the 7th Warren Central male athlete to win this prestigious award.  Others who share this honor include:  Bob Anderson (1954), Gunars Janelsins (1964), Terry Woodburn (1967), Jeff George (1986), Justin Beriault (2000), and Kris Harley (2011).

David amassed so many accolades that it is mind-numbing. David has led his Warriors teams in Football and Basketball while earning 8 Varsity letters. In Football, he earned the All
Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference, All Marion County, All State, and Max Preps All
American honors the past 3 years.  David not surprisingly was named the Indiana Gatorade
Football Player of the Year, in addition to Mr. Football at his Wide Receiver position in his Senior year. He was a 4-year starter with eye-popping offensive statistical numbers that resulted in helping his squads win 3 Sectionals, a Regional, a Semi-State and 6A State title his Senior season.

In Basketball, David has displayed the same brilliance while helping lead his teams to
an undefeated State Championship season as a Junior and a 76-6 record over 3 years. He was a very capable statistical contributor, but his all-around abilities made him as dangerous as anyone on the floor. If you did not account for him; then he would hit the big shot when needed or make the pivotal steal, assist or rebound to break your team’s hope of winning. David is a strong student and will be furthering his educational pursuit in Accounting and playing football at Purdue University this Fall.
